So where are you going exactly...

A number of people keep asking exactly what our itinerary will be. I think that most people thought we might kidding when we told them that we were going to take a year off to go sailing (especially those who followed my first sailing "adventures"), and so they didn't really listen when we described our itinerary. Now that they know that we are really going, people are starting to ask where we are going exactly. Many have asked if we are going to go around the world, and the answer is "no". We simply will not have time (it would take between two-three years to go around the world, with very intense sailing and not much visiting).

Instead we decided to concentrate on a particular region. We will be leaving from France on the 7th of October (after a whirlwind trip to the states for Al and Kim's wedding). We will go along the French and Spanish coast, through Gibraltar to Madeira Island off the coast of Portugual. This should take us to the end of November. At the end of November, we will change crews. Sébastien and three other people (two of whom are as of yet unknown) will cross the Atlantic in the boat and I fly back for a month in the states with the girls. In the end of December, I will meet Sébastien in St. Martin and we will be off on the rest of our adventure. We will start by going down to Guadeloupe, and the back up past St Martin for the Northern arc of the Antilles. We will go to Puerto Rico and the Bahamas and on to Florida. From there we will work our way up the Eastern seaboard. Nothing is set in stone, as we don't really have any constraints other than money and the day we need to be back in France. We are looking forward to having this liberty and aren't really sure how we will react with all this free time, but it should be wonderful.
